95 Points - Chris Sawyer "Sommelier to the Stars"

Aromas of wild berry, ripe fig underpinned with hints of licorice, dark chocolate, savory spice, and cigar box.  The palate is robust, youthful and bursting with natural energy.  Flavors continue to expand vibrant dark cherry, blackberry, fresh currant, ripe plum, with hints of cassis, sage, mocha, cinnamon, and fine French oak.  Rich flavors are underscored by bright acidity. Smooth tannins, firm structure and silky texture coat the palate on route to a long, generous finish.

Decadent, sophisticated and age worthy.  An outstanding offering from the 2019 vintage with more structure and beefiness than the 2018. Ready to drink now, and will easily cellar for another 7-10 years, if you can wait that long.

Food Pairings

Vintage
2019 was a dream vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Napa Valley. Steady weather conditions and a long growing season allowed winemakers the luxury of letting pure fruit flavors fully develop before the clusters were picked. The end result is a brilliant series of stylish, well-structured Cabernet Sauvignon selections that are opulent and showy at first, becoming richer and more complex as flavors develop in the glass.

This vintage and commemorates the 25-Year Anniversary of the boutique Michael-Scott brand. This limited release is made with ultra-premium fruit grown in the historic winegrowing region of Calistoga in the Napa Valley.

94 Points
Opens up with an aromatic burst of black cherry jam, wild huckleberry, and a hint of crushed espresso bean.  On the palate, the fruit is lush and primary, but it's the secondary notes—toasted nutmeg, dark chocolate truffle, and the signature 'Dry Creek Dust'—that provide a long, savory finish.
