Vintage
The 2019 vintage proved to be another phenomenal year. While we encountered some significant storms coupled with high winds through bloom, in the end we emerged unscathed. While the 2019 season was generally cooler than 2018, we maintained our historical average with respect to degree-days due to lower temperature fluctuation. The consistency of weather through the growing season produced an exceptionally balanced and expressive vintage.
Winemaking
The Reynoso Family Vineyards 2019 Red Wine is 100% Estate Grown and consists of 60.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22.7% Merlot, 10.1% Petit Verdot, and 7% Syrah. Fully hand-picked and sorted, the grapes were crushed and destemmed to tank for a 5-day cold soak. On-skin fermentation ranged from 20-33 days with punchdowns 3 times daily descending as fermentation progressed. The final blend was transferred to 50% new French oak barrels in November for a 20-month aging process before bottling on 12 July 2021.
